Change a Kid’s Life Give ‘em a Bike! |

Bikes4Tykes started in 1996 in Louisville, Colorado. A Salvation Army Angel Tree was set up in the Fitness Center at Storage Technology and as I approached the tree I noticed a tag from an 8 year old boy asking for a new Bicycle for Christmas.
I couldn’t afford to purchase the bike all by myself, but I thought ‘what a wonderful gift to give to a kid’ so I went back to my project team and sent an email out asking if anyone wanted to go in on a Bike with me.
To make a long story short, we ended up with enough money to purchase 10 brand new bikes and helmets that year. The ‘gang’ got together to assemble the bikes and we donated them all to the Salvation Army. That year Bikes4Tykes was born. The name was coined by Kathy Peachey, a dear friend of mine and co-founder of Bikes4Tykes. Kathy maintained Bikes4Tykes for two years as I traveled about the country with my new job.
In 1999, I moved to New York and brought Bikes4Tykes with me. We have been collecting donations every year and 100% of the donated money is used to purchase Bikes and Helmets.
In 2000, we purchased 44 bikes in NY and 20 bikes in San Francisco, CA with the assistance and support of Evoke Software Corporation. 2000 saw the addition of Scooters and 26” bikes.
In 2001, we raised enough to donate 102 Bikes, 45 in Westchester County, NY and 57 were delivered by the Marine Corp Toys For Tots to the Kids affected by the Attack on the World Trade Center in New York City.
In 2002, we donated 80 Bikes4Tykes in the NY metro area and Westchester County.
In 2003 we became incorporated in the State of NY and we donated 70 bikes in the NYC metro area and Westchester County !
In 2004, we donated 81 Bikes4Tykes in the NY metro area and Westchester County!
In 2005 we donated 71 Bikes4Tykes! |

Bikes4Tykes, Incorporated, collects donations to purchase Bicycles and Helmets for donation to Toys For Tots and The Salvation Army at Christmas time. Since we started in 1996 we have donated over 600 Bikes4Tykes!
100% of the money raised is used to purchase Bikes and Helmets. All Administration, Gasoline, etc is donated by the folks running the effort.
